The Protocol School of Washington’s
Graduate Highlight

Cathi Culbertson

Name: Cathi Culbertson

Title: Director of Protocol & Corporate Entertainment

Company:  Forbes Inc

City and State:  New York, NY

Website:  www.forbesinc.com

Hometown:  Born Lancaster, Ohio but I call Clearwater, Florida home since I spent most of my youth there.

Greatest dream:   I would love to travel the world with my husband to Asia, Norway, South Africa, and Italy to name a few.

Last splurge:   Trip to Bermuda for my 10th Wedding Anniversary

last March 25, 2005.

Mentor:  I feel very lucky to say I have had two.  The first was a high school history teacher, Mr. Russell Cantwell, who took an interest in all his students, encouraging them to do well and explore the world.  My second mentor was my Aunt Doris who encouraged me to come to New York and helped me be the best person I could be.

Proudest moment: When I was asked to coordinate the four-day Forbes Hot Air Balloon Festival for international CEO’s, royalty and celebrities.  It was held at the Forbes Chateau in Normandy, France, which was quite a challenge because the town is very small and has limited resources.

TV program: I love the Home Improvement shows, but unfortunately I never have time to improve my home.

Favorite sport: Sitting on a beach reading a book… I leave the physical sports to others.

In the morning I reach for: my husband to give him a good morning kiss.

My professional tip of the day:  It’s in the details.  Don’t procrastinate, do everything you can today.

Why The Protocol School of Washington®?  Since I became the Director of Protocol and Corporate Entertainment at Forbes, I have wanted to learn as much as I could about protocol, which I have done by reading resource books.  When I heard Pamela Eyring speak about the school, I knew that was the next step for me to further my education.  The training gave me confidence in what I was accomplishing at work and provided clear strategies for the future.
